Awhile back, we shared some interview tips with you. But, what we didn’t tell you then (don’t worry – we’re going to tell you now!) is that what you do after the interview can be just as important as the interview itself.

1. Send a Thank-You Card. Really! It’s as back to basics as it gets, but when it comes to interviewing – chivalry is not dead. In fact, many interviewers expect a thank-you card. Now, don’t stress too much about whether or not it is handwritten. While always a nice touch, there is often not enough time in the hiring process to send a letter snail mail and add that personal touch. Additionally, as a consultant, you may not have direct contact with the person who interviewed you. No worries–in such cases, ask your recruiter. They may be able to send a note on your behalf. The most important thing is not how it gets there, but just that it gets there in general.

2. Break the Silence. Like an awkward first date, nobody likes a great moment of silence- we get that. If you want to find out where you stand after an interview, call your recruiter. They will have the most up-to-date information for you, and can hopefully give you some feedback. No news is not necessarily bad news!

3. Recover! If you don’t get the job, don’t let it get you down. Keep networking, keep in touch with your recruiter, and know that there is a job out there for you. It’s just a matter of trial and error!
