Purpose of role:
The Logistics Advisor provides direction, oversight, and assurance of all day-to-day logistics activities within the GSC Americas Envelope and delivers a safe, high quality and service, plus cost effective logistic operations in GSC Americas. One of the primary logistics responsibilities is day-to-day Logistics for our M&EL and USA/Canada lubricant businesses, and Logistics performance aligned with the GSC Americas Customer Fulfillment and Logistics agenda to help achieve best in class performance to support the business strategies of the Regional/Envelope Lubricant businesses.
This role is additionally responsible for ensuring performance, compliance, and alignment between Logistics and other relevant cross-functional teams, such as Procurement, Manufacturing, Planning, Finance, and most importantly – Customer facing roles, both internal and external.
The role provides leadership to the in-country logistics and third-party suppliers (3PL’s) and keeps abreast of the development in the logistics market.
This position is the functional expert in logistics transportation, and is expected to apply best practices in our logistics operations with our transportation and third party logistics providers and sustained focus on safety, quality, service, and cost.
The role aligns and integrates the Logistics function with service delivery improvements across the GSC and the Americas envelope.
Key Results/ Accountabilities expected from role
Delivery of the Logistic plan (Safety, Service, Quality, Compliance, and Cost) to support Logistics performance in the Americas and delivery of drumbeat and roadmap agenda in the USA and Canada.
Manage the logistics day-to-day performance and activities in the USA and Canada. Develop and manage Key Logistics Performance Indicators in Customer Fulfillment USA/Canada and within the Logistics team to drive continuous improvement actions and results.
Logistics Advisor contributes and enables the Logistics strategy and execution setting
Member of the GSC Americas Customer Fulfillment USA/Canada and Logistics Team reporting to the Logistics Manager USA/Canada.
Accountable for the service level agreements between Logistics providers and GSC.
Accountable to deliver tactical execution of the Logistic activities that support the strategies and service to the manufacturing or third party facilities operating in our supply network
Finance Support (for Logistics)
Accountable for Driver Safety Policy and Road Safety Compliance
Support logistics team development and talent in Global Supply Chain Americas.
Lead for Logistics projects and continuous improvement activities in the Americas region.
Develop and manage carrier routing guides to optimize freight expense. Proficient in freight and ERP systems. Proficient in transportation related systems.
Support Commercial Logistics-related activity
Experience & Expertise
Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, business or related discipline.
8 years minimum combined supply chain experience required.
5 years minimum experience in Logistics including 3rd party logistics management plus customer service and product replenishment.
Strong expertise in logistics and warehousing operations.
Active logistics practitioner in diverse transportation categories and environments.
Demonstrated experience of working in cross-functional teams and networks.
Innovative and capable of identifying and implementing solutions in Logistics.
Logistics advisor must have experience and working knowledge of freight payment systems such as US Bank Power Track or related process and system.
Logistics advisor is the subject matter expert in transportation payment, data analytics, and use of tools to support tracking of mileage, track and trace capability, rate management, and to develop trend information to inform network optimization analysis and financial forecast.
Key contributor to logistics network in GSC Americas.
Familiarity and knowledge of principles and tools in and logistics management including network design, logistics and transportation management, contractor management (incl 3PL/4PL) warehouse management and road safety management. Demonstrated evidence of management and oversight of logistics management in a supply chain.
Familiarity and knowledge of principles and tools in customer fulfilment including customer offer, SLA Management, order management, customer support, order fulfilment processes and driving improvement in customer service performance. Demonstrated evidence of management of customer fulfilment in a supply chain or business environment.
Familiarity and knowledge of and broader principles and tools of safety leadership including building a safety culture, identifying risk, eliminating and minimizing risk through plant, process and people barriers and embedding management systems to sustain and improve performance. Demonstrated evidence of personal safety leadership, building a safety culture and driving safety performance improvement.
Strong, solid expertise in logistics operations. Has a fundamental understanding of the other aspects of supply chain operations and management, inclusive manufacturing and planning.
Experience working in a regional or global dimension with demonstrated performance management.
Distribution experience in downstream, chemicals or related industries is highly desirable.
Knowledge and understanding of the different business drivers for the heritage Auto, Industrial, and M&EL OUs, including a clear understanding of customer differences and Logistic Network characteristics is highly desirable.
