FridayFavoritesLARoadTrips-01

Our Los Angeles office not only has some of the best weather, but they’re also less than 10 minutes from the ocean and beyond that, they’re less than 3 hours from so many great weekend getaways! So for all our weekend warriors out there, we wanted to do a Friday Favorites on our the best weekend vacay spots for our Los Angelans!

Ojai- 2.25 hours from L.A.

Ojai is known for being an escape from the bustle of the city and tucked away 15 miles from the ocean it certainly lives up to that. Ojai offers more a village feel for those who are looking for a more low key escape. We recommend staying at one of the B&B’s on Ojai Ave for the full Ojai experience. If you’re looking for a more elevated lodging situation, stay at the famous Ojai Valley Inn. Whether you’re staying there or not we recommend stopping by for a spa treatment or two. Looking for a little something different, take the Inn’s 90-min. beekeeping tour!

Santa Barbara- 2.5 hours from L.A.

Just a stone throws away from Ojai, Santa Barbara sits on the coast of the Pacific Ocean. State Street is a great place to stretch your legs and window shop. If you’re staying at one of the many local hotels, they offer bikes to rent as Santa Barbara ideal for bike rides. If you want to stay in town, check out the Kimpton Canary Hotel. If you are looking for something that resembles more of a beach vacation, check out the Four Season Resort at the Biltmore Santa Barbara. If you can get a reservation, Lucky’s in adjacent Montecito is legendary and their Grilled Artichoke is out of the world.

Big Bear- 2.75 hours from L.A.

You might as well count Big Bear as being worthy of two separate trips, one in the summer and one in the winter because depending on the season it’s basically two different locations! About 2 hours and 45 minutes from L.A., Big Bear is the spot to ski in the L.A. area during the winter months and with great AirBnbs, makes for a great trip with friends. Have a friend who doesn’t ski, send them to the Tube Park for some tubing. In the summer, the lake becomes a great option to spend time on and the mountain offers great hiking trails. On Sunday, before heading back to the city, partake in the Creole brunch at the Knickerbocker Mansion!

Palm Springs- 2.75 hours from L.A.

If you’re looking for a fabulous place to experience the desert, look no further than Palm Springs! Originally loved by the Rat Pack and that crowed, Palm Springs is a welcomed mixed of historic Mid-Century Modern homes and planned golf course communities, so whatever experience you’re looking for you will find it in Palm Springs! If you choose not to go the Airbnb route, we highly recommend the Parker Hotel, designed by famed interior decorator, Jonathan Adler. Looking for a rooftop pool to escape the heat? Hit up the Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs Hotel.

Solvang- 3 hours from L.A.

And lastly, our furthest destination, but perhaps the most interesting, Solvang is a small town in the Santa Ynez Mountains that short of an international flight, will have you feeling like you’re in Denmark! Whether you stop by the Hans Christian Andersen Museum or explore the cute shops, it’s easy to fall in love with Solvang. You’ll likely want to stay at either the Kronborg Inn or the Hadsten House for a true Solvang trip. Looking to grab a drink, we recommend the Wandering Dog Wine Bar, its a popular stop for an after-dinner drink and light bites. Wondering where its name comes from? Well, you’ll quickly understand as you’ll see some four-legged patrons enjoying their evenings there and in many places in Solvang as it’s incredibly dog-friendly.

If L.A.’s proximity to so many places makes it sound like a great place to live and work, check out our open positions, as we’re currently hiring for our Los Angeles office!
