It’s officially September, and the autumn season is upon us! The picturesque trees along the Mississippi and Missouri River bluffs will soon be turning into shades of burnt orange, red and yellow colors, and [we may be biased, but] we think they give upstate New York a run for their money! There’s never a lack of entertainment when it comes to enjoying the outdoors with some fall fun in the surrounding St. Louis area — Here are a just a few of our favorite upcoming events that will likely leave you FALLing in love with St. Louis, too:
St Louis Renaissance Festival: Take a trip back in time this autumn season to visit the St. Louis Renaissance Festival located just outside the city, from September 18th through October 17th. This festival boasts a wide range of activities from shopping vendors, leather works, opportunities to try out your skills in Blacksmithing, contests, mock battles and more. This 21stcentury remake of the medieval times is a great way to see what it would have been like living back then.
Botanical Gardens Japanese Festival: Check out the St. Louis Botanical Gardens for the Japanese Festival honoring the history, culture, art, and people of Japan. This year’s festivities take place between September 4th through 6th [regular admission: $16; member price: $8.] The Botanical Gardens has been hosting this festival since 1977, coordinating closely with many Japanese organizations to provide authentic music, art, food, dance, and entertainment to thousands of patrons each year. You won’t want to miss out on this fantastic festival at one of the country’s largest botanical gardens!
Scarefest and Fright Fest St Louis: Scarefest is one America’s most notorious haunted attractions, showcasing the Lemp Brewery Haunted House, The Darkness Haunted House, and more —zombie laser tag, escape rooms and other creepy experiences. If you’re looking for even more spooky season thrills, head to Frightfest Six Flags St. Louis for the “Halloween Event of the Season.” Both Scarefest and Fright Fest begin late September through the 31st of October.
The Great Godfrey Corn Maze: Open on the weekends and located just across the river in Godfrey, Illinois, The Great Godfrey Corn Maze offers tons of fun for the family. The grounds display a massive corn maze for patrons to explore and solve. They also have activities such as a Cow Train, Corn Crib, Hay Wagon, Jumping Pillow, and their newest attraction, the Vortex Machine. There’s entertainment for all ages! Regular hours are Fridays 6 – 10pm, Saturdays 11am – 10pm and Sundays 12am – 6pm.
