Machine Learning Engineer

Job Summary: Our telecommunications client is looking to add a talented and motivated Machine Learning Engineer to their team to support chatbot + messaging products to better their internal team support and customer experience through the customer care channel, social channels, or messaging. The ideal candidate will strive to want to learn new technologies, self starter, solution oriented, team player, and a drive to support a forward thinking customer experience. A machine learning engineer designs and develops statistical model-driven, real-time, self-running software from structured and unstructured data using code for internal and external business systems/applications, reporting, and business intelligence systems supporting corporate business objectives, from analysis to deployment and support of models embedded in software systems.


  • Owns the technical vision and implementation of models trained on data
  • Optimizes models for run-time, scale, and capacity
  • Releases code into production systems
  • Creates documentation for technical users of the system
  • Builds supervised and unsupervised models, documenting experiments and analyses used to reach the result
  • Designs and develops models using data that are served through software (streams, websockets, APIs)
  • Writes unit tests when implementing user stories for release
  • Designs, implements, and documents machine learning experiments
  • Writes logs and audit trails
  • Helps translate business and functional requirements into technical specifications on user stories, identifying potential algorithms and models to use and test
  • Designs, implements, and documents machine learning experiments
  • Leads code reviews, walkthroughs, and technical grooming sessions with other members of the technical team
  • Contributes to and works to meet project schedules
  • Creates unit testing for production deployments
  • Performs peer-to-peer code reviews
  • Collaborates with other machine learning engineers on design

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • 5+ years working as an engineer or in a technical capacity using R, Python, Julia, and mainly working in Machine Learning and AI space
  • Demonstrated ability, experience, and competency for the job responsibilities or 5 years of experience preferred
  • Experience working with Rasa is preferred, but open to experience working with any other conversational AI
  • Software engineering fundamentals and git
  • Strong understanding of statistical modeling techniques - specifically forecasting, root cause analyses
  • Experience in tensorflow is preferred but not mandatory
  • Experience consuming data from API, teradata, hadoop, s3, and traditional RDB mandatory
  • Experience producing APIs from models desired, not mandatory
  • Strong in exploratory data analysis
