Wireless Engineer

Job Summary: Our client is seeking a Wi-Fi Engineer to join our Wi-Fi CPE Architecture team. They define, develop, and test the hardware and software on In-Home Wi-Fi routers that go into millions of customer homes across the United States. Ideally, we are looking for a skilled Wi-Fi Network Engineer with a good understanding of radio-frequency (RF) principles, the IEEE 802.11 protocols, test equipment, and object-oriented programming principles.


  • Define architecture and solutions for Wi-Fi features and equipment addressing customer-centric wireless use cases
  • Research and development of wireless technologies and solutions for use in customer premise Wi-Fi equipment deployed in carrier networks
  • Define requirements for Wi-Fi hardware and features and developing tests plans and test cases to validate proposed requirements
  • Employ data science techniques and analyzing large datasets to assist in proactive network management of larger wireless networks
  • Identify root causes of RF and wireless issues encountered with equipment deployed in the lab, at test houses or in production networks
  • Understand and administrate wireless test equipment and analysis and processing of test results
  • Develop data models and software tools to organize and analyze large collections of wireless metrics
  • Develop software and tools for interacting with cloud services, databases and large datasets
  • Work with vendors to ensure adequate support and resolution of bugs

Desired Skills/Experience: 

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
  • Understanding and working knowledge of WiFi Protocols & Standards (IEEE 802.11a,b,g,n,ac,ax) 
  • Proficient in Linux and scripting; proficient in Python and/or C++ 
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues methodically and understand the root cause 
  • Proficient data networking knowledge (OSI Model, Protocols, based route/switch) 
  • Familiar with Wireshark and analysis of packet captures 
  • Experience using data science and visualization tools (e.g. Pandas) 
  • Familiar with radio-frequency (RF) principles and communication theory 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Willingness to work in a lab environment 
  • Ability to work with members across teams 
  • Electrical engineering/telecommunication background 
  • Machine learning experience 
  • Experience architecting and deploying cloud services, databases and controllers and familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS 
  • Wired and/or Wireless Networking experience Experience with Managed Wi-Fi Systems and Equipment, including Wi-Fi Controllers 
  • Experience with any of the following test platforms: Ixia, Spirent, Octobox, Rohde & Schwarz 
  • Experience with Wi-Fi functional, performance and stability testing
