Title: Senior Data Analyst


Supports the Hospital and Enterprise Analytics’s vision, mission, and strategic initiatives by using technical expertise to design, create and develop analytic solutions.  The incumbent facilitates gathering business requirements, and provides knowledge in business/clinical processes, analytical expertise, by working with key stakeholders, end users and project team members. This position identifies and resolves issues throughout the development of analytical solutions, and participates in identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in workflow processes. Primary responsibility is the design, creation and deployment of analytical solutions for key stakeholders within the SCH organization. The incumbent is responsible for participating on project teams, and designs and implements analytic solutions, including reports, dashboards, and views from a wide range of existing data sources, and participates in evaluating and optimizing these solutions. The incumbent also participates in the assurance of the data integrtiy for current and future use in strategic initiatives, continuous quality improvement efforts and hospital goals.


The Strategy and Business Development (SBD) Analyst is responsible for the following:

  • Maintain and update databases and analytic deliverables as part of routine operation within Strategy and Business Development department.
  • Provide expertise to design and implement analytic solutions, including reports, dashboards, and data queries from a wide range of existing data sources, and participate in evaluating and optimizing these solutions.
  • Identify and resolve issues throughout the development of analytical solutions, and participate in improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with team members within SBD to provide analytic support for the institutional strategic planning process and initiatives.
  • Work with key stakeholders and SBD team members to gather business requirements, and provide technical and analytical expertise to support service line business development engagements.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Analytics team to ensure data integrity for current and future use of Strategy and Business Development’s projects, as well as institutional strategic initiatives.

Minimum Education and Experience:  (Identify only education requirements that are legally defensible – e.g., an attorney needs a Juris Doctor)

Required Education/Experience:

-  Bachelor’s degree in Health Science, Computer Science, Math, Business or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience/technical training that demonstrates technical competency.

-  Minimum three (3) years experience in progressively more responsible work as a data analyst, developer or equivalent,  preferably in a healthcare setting.

-  Experience with Cerner, Epic or similar software product.

-  At least three (3) years managing medium to large projects using standard project management skills, tools and methodologies.

-  Experience with clinical, hospital and/or financial applications and/or systems.

-  Experience in negotiating terms, issues, beta site arrangements and other vendor management issues.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

-  Knowledge of current technologies, practices and emerging trends in measurement.

-  Working knowledge of and proficiency in using Business Objects Web Intelligence or Crystal Reports, SQL Server, Tableau (or other dashboarding software), and MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & Access).

-  Experience working with the development life cycle

-  Extensive professional experience in data analysis and report design/development

-  Extensive knowledge of reporting programs and tools in-depth knowledge and experience with relational database concepts and query tools

-  Understanding of security and privacy issues
