In honor of the resurgence of Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte, we are keenly aware that fall is officially upon us! However, it does seem that these early weeks of fall can cause some frustrations for those of us in the offices. First, the battle between the AC and the heat rages strongly, influenced heavily by the fickle weather outside.
That then seems to trickle down to office attire. When it’s warm outside it’s freezing in the office and vice versa but further complicated by the fact that it can flip-flop multiple times a day. So to help make this awkward in-between season a little easier, we’ve made a list of three of our favorite tricks for transitioning your summer wardrobe to fall!
Add a Scarf
This tip is especially great for when those Indian Summer days when it’s too hot for a jacket but too cold for your summer attire. Scarves can be a great way to transition summer clothes like skirts and maxi dresses and bring them into the fall season. An added benefit: A scarf is easy enough to take on and off depending on which side of the office has control of the thermostat that day.
Swap Out for Black Bottoms
This is a pretty simple rule, swap out whatever bottoms you would’ve worn in the summer with its black equivalent. If that shirt pairs well with a bright patterned skirt in the warmer months, swap it out for a black skirt in the fall. Light crop jeans? How about a pair of black skinny trousers? You would be surprised how easy this method can be and how much longevity it gives to some otherwise seasonal outfits.
Mix Summer Brights With Fall Neutrals
Neons might have been a color you kept exclusively for the summer but by adding a neutral layer they can now transition easily to fall. Think of hot pink and army green or highlighter yellow with khaki. Adding a neutral layer means not creating new outfits, but simply adding to existing ones.
