Highlight Reel 2012: Career Advice

Looking for a new job in 2013? Lucky for you, we’ve rounded up our best career advice from 2012! Happy job hunting!

Starting the Hunt for a New Job?

Get started with our Top 10 Resume Tips to help you showcase your talents and skills to potential employers. Once you are ready to flaunt your resume to the world, start making connections. You never know who you will meet and who he or she may know. It can be grueling to get your foot in the door, it might even feel like a fight to the death a la Hunger Games, but don’t give up yet! The interview is in sight!

Got the Interview?

Time to nail it! First and foremost, make sure you are dressed professionally for the interview. No one is impressed by an interviewee with a big Hollister logo stamped across his or her chest. Reference our What Not to Wear Guide for a crash course on appropriate dress. Once you arrive at the interview, pay attention to your body language and be honest with your interviewer. The last thing you want is to be caught in a bluff. How embarrassing! And of course, be sure to thank your interviewer afterward.

Phew, Got the Job!

Congratulations! Get started on the right foot in your new role by impressing your coworkers and supervisors, but don’t overdo it by stretching yourself too thin. Speaking of taking too much, the cupcakes in the break room may be tempting but avoid becoming the office pig and avoid the office 15! Last but not least, protect your reputation on social media outlets. Think twice before posting that slightly offensive but humorous jab on Twitter.

Hope you enjoyed some of our favorite tips from 2012, stay tuned for even more career advice in 2013!
