Summer in Chicago

KM_ChicagoSummer-02

Planning to spend some time in Chicago this summer? If you’re not, now is the perfect time to start! We’ve compiled a list of what to do if you find yourself in The Windy City anytime soon… even if it is just for a weekend getaway.

There’s nothing wrong with hitting all the “basic” tourist spots this summer in Chicago. Officially named Cloud Gate, this is a giant sculpture located in Millennial Park that is shaped like, you guessed it, a bean! Its silver, mirrored exterior allows for it to reflect the skyscrapers as well as the people around the sculpture. This makes this the perfect spot for a goofy selfie or a unique group shot!

There’s more to Millennium Park than The Bean. The free Summer Film Series is scheduled for another year and has a lineup of films that are too good to miss. Some titles include Hairspray, Groundhog Day, Coco, and Slumdog Millionaire. So, get ready to get some popcorn and either grab a seat at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion or spread a blanket out on the lawn. Check out the schedule to see if your favorite movies are screening!

Wanting to catch a different perspective of the skyscrapers that make up the iconic Chicago skyline? See them from the water! The city offers a variety of options that let you cruise along the Chicago River. The most popular options include kayak rides and an architecture tour. Plus, it’s literally a cooler alternative to walking around on the hot, crowded streets.

Music fans, listen up! Spend the weekend, August 2nd-5th, listening to all your favorite bands this summer in Grant Park. Lollapalooza is the city’s largest music festival and has over 40 artists performing each day. From rap to rock, Lolla has got it covered and you’re sure to find something to jam out to.

A trip to see the Cubs play is a must for this summer, no matter who you root for! With a lot of home games throughout the season, there’s plenty of time to cheer them on. And, outside the stadium may be just as fun as inside it. Wrigleyville is the neighborhood surrounding the stadium that is full of restaurants, bars, and souvenir shops. It’s a hot spot for both tourists and locals. The best part? Our KellyMitchell Chicago office is located only 20 minutes away from all the action!
